Can I access and amend my own information in the Vital Statistics Registry?

The Vital Statistics Act, 2009 outlines the process for individuals to access and/or amend their information in the Vital Statistics Registry.

Individuals may access certain information about themselves by requesting official documents (such as birth certificates) in accordance with the legislation and the policies and procedures established by the Registrar.

Individuals may also request correction to errors in their own information in the Vital Statistics Registry. The corrections are handled in accordance with the legislation and the policies and procedures established by the Registrar. Where a correction is authorized by the Registrar, the correction is made by a notation on the registration so as not to alter the original entry.
