This privacy statement was developed based on compliance with The Vital Statistics Administration Transfer Act, The Vital Statistics Act, 1995, The Change of Name Act, 1995, The Health Information Protection Act and other laws applicable to the Vital Statistics Registry.
What is the Vital Statistics Registry?
The Vital Statistics Registry has been established under The Vital Statistics Administration Transfer Act.
The primary purpose of the Vital Statistics Registry is to register and record births, stillbirths, adoptions, deaths, marriages (including divorces and annulments) and changes of name for the Province of Saskatchewan. These are the categories of personal information that are contained in the Vital Statistics Registry.
The Vital Statistics Registry consists of paper, microfilm and microfiche records as well as electronic records.
What is the Role of ISC?
Information Services Corporation (ISC) is the provincial Crown corporation responsible for the administration of land titles, vital statistics, survey and personal property registries, as well as related geographic information and mapping systems.
Formed as a corporation in January 2000, but with a history that pre-dates the province itself, ISC provides valued customer-focused services through all business channels, including the internet, telephone, fax and in-person at its eight regional customer service centres located throughout the province.
In addition to establishing the Vital Statistics Registry, The Vital Statistics Administration Transfer Act transferred responsibility for vital statistics administration to ISC. Prior to the transfer, the Health Registration and Vital Statistics Branch of the Saskatchewan Ministry of Health was responsible for vital statistics administration.
