ISC's Mark

Today, ISC uses seals on official documents. These seals are used by the Registrar and Controller of Surveys, and their respective deputies in their absence, and are used for a variety of reasons.

For land titles, the seal is one of the methods used by the controller to “certify” that the printed copy of a land development plan stored in the Land Surveys Directory is authentic. The copy must have the impression of the seal, the date and signature of the Controller or Deputy Controller to ensure that it is a true copy and admissible in a court case as the original is not used. Today, a rubber stamp is used rather than an embossed seal.

The Registrar’s seal is one of the methods used on land titles registration documents to certify that the registration being searched for or registered is authentic. The seals are also used in the finance department on finance documents. The seal indicates that copies of the registrations are true copies and are admissible in court.
