GeoSask Made Easy
Information to help you quickly familiarize yourself with all that GeoSask has to offer.
Technical Requirements
The following details the minimum and recommended software and hardware specifications:
- Web Browser: We recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer 7. We are currently testing our website for compatibility with Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, but at this point we are not recommending it be used. If you have already installed Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, please try using it in Compatibility View. Other browsers may offer limited access to the site, but may not provide for full functionality.
- Minimum Resolution: 1024 x 768
- Recommended Resolution: 1280 x 1024
- Hardware: P3 800 MHz CPU (or equivalent), 256 MB Ram, 500 MB free disk space
- Network: Internet-connected (56.6 kbps minimum)
- Applications: Adobe Acrobat Reader 5 (or higher)
- Other: Pop-ups allowed for www.GeoSask.ca; Javascript enabled
Features
GeoSask can be used to:
- Discover local and remote geospatial information resources.
- View details about each discovered resource, including how to get it for your own use.
- Immediately view live Data and Map resources you have discovered.
- Create, upload and manage metadata that references geospatial data items and services your organization has produced.
- Share secured and non-secured data.
- Manage and update your own user account information.
- Manage and save maps and download preferences you have created for use during subsequent sessions.

Getting Help
Depending on the circumstances, there are a variety of ways to obtain help in using GeoSask:
- General GeoSask Use - From understanding how to use Map Viewer, Metadata Search or how to download data or inquire about security privileges check out GeoSask online Help. - Data-Related Assistance - Any inquiries related to the quality of data including understanding how data was collected, presented and so forth should be directed to the publisher of the specific data in question. Also, to inquire about obtaining security privileges for secure data please contact the publisher. Contact information is set out in the metadata associated with the data in question. Please perform a search of the data layer in question using Metadata Search or, if in the Map Viewer, by clicking on the icon located to the left of the service or layer name to locate the appropriate contact information.
- Custom-Order Inquiries - Inquiries related to custom orders should be directed to the ISC Geomatics Distribution Centre which can be reached Toll Free at 1-866-420-6577 or (306)787-2799 (Regina) or by email at saskmaps@isc.ca.
