Download Restrictions

Download limits are put in place to ensure maximum performance for all users.  Current download restrictions are:

  • Direct Downloads from GeoSask (available immediately): 10,000 features (10 MB)
  • Direct Downloads from FTP Server (available for 24 hours from time requested): 40,000 features (40 MB)
  • Geomatics Distribution Centre (contact for turnaround time): all other downloads
  • Daily download limit: 10 per user

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Data that is displayed in Map Viewer may be constrained based on attribute information (for example, only showing roads of a certain classification).  Data that is downloaded from GeoSask will contain all the information for that available theme.  It will not be constrained by the 'View' attributes.  This means that, for some themes, the downloaded data will provide more information than is visible in the Map Viewer.

Download Formats

Data may be downloaded in the following industry-standard formats:

  • ESRI Shape
  • AutoCAD DXF (R12)
  • AutoCAD DXF (R14)
  • AutoCAD DXF (R2000)

Cartographic Text

Cartographic text, or data labels, increase the usefulness of maps.  Examples of cartographic text include names of municipalities, streets and water bodies.  For information on how cartographic text can be generated from a GeoSask download click here.
