Information Services Corporation (ISC) assumed responsibility for Vital Statistics in 2008. The Vital Statistics Act is being updated as part of ISC's plan to modernize the Vital Statistics Registry. The new Act changes many of the policies and processes currently used. One change includes the direct registration of vital events with ISC, discontinuing the role of the Division Registrars. To allow for quick and easy registration, ISC released an online application for the registering of deaths and the issuing of burial permits. This new online process will improve on efficiencies by ensuring a real-time delivery of burial permits to Funeral Directors and assigned staff.

How Do I Get Access to the Burial Permit Application?

The new burial permit application will be accessible from ISC's Online Services website. This secured Online Services website requires an ISC account to sign into it, so Funeral Directors and assigned staff will need to register for a free ISC account before submitting their first Burial Permit online.
