Order a Marriage Certificate 

A marriage certificate is required to:

  • Provide legal proof of your marriage
  • Ensure the rights of spouses and children are respected
  • Apply for certain social benefits
  • Settle an estate

Step 1: Choose the type of Marriage Certificate 

Small Certificate ($25) | See example
Contains the full name of each spouse, date of marriage, place of marriage, registration number and registration date.

Frame Certificate ($25) | See example
Contains the full name of each spouse, date of marriage, place of marriage, registration number and registration date.

Genealogical photocopy ($50)
Contains all of the information that appears on the original marriage registration and is stamped "FOR GENEALOGY ONLY".

Certified photocopy ($50)
Contains all of the information that appears on the original marriage registration.

Step 2: Complete the Marriage Certificate Order Form (PDF)

As an applicant, you must submit:
  • A copy of one piece of government-issued photo identification, or 
  • Copies of two other pieces of identification - one must have your signature on it
