Historical Search Request - Instructions

Section A – Existing Client Information

If you already have a client number complete the Existing Client Information section by filling in your:
  • Client Number 
  • Your Reference Number – This is an optional number, up to 12 characters, that you create for your own reference and use for identifying this file or matter. 
  • Account Number – Enter your ISC Account Number. 
  • Account Password – Enter the password which corresponds to the above Account Number, using CAPITALS only. A temporary account does not require a password.

Section B – New Client Information

If you do not have a client number, complete the New Client Information section. 
  • Client Name (Last, First are mandatory), 
  • Client Mailing Address (required for mail delivery), 
  • Phone Number (mandatory),
  • Email address (required for e-mail delivery), 
  • Fax Number (required for fax delivery). 
    Note: Please fill in as much New Client Information as possible. This will allow us the opportunity to contact you if we have any questions regarding your request.

Section C – Details of Search

Complete the Details of Search section by doing the following:
  • Select at least one box of the following: Surface, Minerals, Titles, and/or Instruments.

Please enter a Legal Land Description and include any additional information for the search results you are requesting.
  • For example - Enter the ¼ section, township , range, meridian and additional information such as „north of the railway‟or „include all parcels within the land description.‟

Select one of the Search to options. This enables ISC to determine whether you want the historical information from the Grant, when a specific person owned the land, or discover who owned the land at a specific date.
  • For example, Search to: Name - John Doe will return a search when John Doe was the owner of the Land.

Select how you would like your search results returned: e-mail, fax or mail. Please note that you may select more than one method of delivery, however, additional fees will apply.

Section D – Method of Payment

Complete one of the Method of payment options. 
  • If attaching a cheque to your application, please enter amount in the Amount box. 
  • If you already have an ISC account, please select the "charge to account listed above" box. Please ensure that your account number and password are accurately entered in the Existing Client Information area.
Note that ISC does not accept foreign currency in the form of cash or cheque.  Foreign currency payments are only accepted through electronic means such as VISA and MasterCard credit cards or debit card for in-person transactions.

Instructions for Online Account Payment Process
** Please note: Multiple account holders must use the Main Account in order to perform the following process. 
  • Sign in to ISC Online Services; 
  • Select Account Payment; 
  • Select either Visa or MasterCard; 
  • Enter the Card Number, Name on the Card and Expiry Date; 
  • Under Payment $ – Enter the amount to be charged to your credit card.

Please be advised that the fee for a Historical Search includes the hourly rate for the Historic Search plus all applicable search and output fees.  For the current fee schedule visit www.isc.ca/fees.

You will be contacted if additional funds are required in order to complete the search you have requested.

To be sure that you have sufficient funds available at the time of processing, you may enter in a "maximum amount" to be charged to your account. For example, you may wish to enter a maximum amount of $300.00, if the transaction is greater than the $300.00 then ISC will contact you for additional funds. If it is less than $300.00, your account will only be charged for the cost to perform the search.
 
Note: Please complete a separate Historical Search Request form for each historical search requested.
