Application for Transfer (Single Title) - Instructions

Use this application to transfer a single title to either a single owner or to multiple owners who hold the title as joint tenants.

Note:  If the transferors are tenants in common, or the transferees will be owning as tenants in common, use the Application for Transfer (Part I – Surrender) and (Part II – Setup) forms.

Use this application to transfer a single title from:
  • Single title owner to single title owner
  • Single title owner to joint title owners
  • Joint title owners to single title owners
  • Joint title owners to joint title owners

The form allows you to transfer to two joint tenants. If your transfer is to more than two
persons owning jointly, please use an Additional Title Owners Form as well.

Your completed application should include:

  • A packet cover page*
  • The Application for Transfer (Single Title)
  • The Additional Title Owners Form (if required)
  • The transfer authorization (single title)*
  • A Titles Affidavit of Value*
  • An Affidavit for Reduced Fee Transactions (if applicable)*
  • A title print request (optional)

For more information on these, please see the corresponding help on the website.

NOTE:  If the title being transferred is owned by two or more owners jointly, each transferring owner must complete an authorization. They may do this on one authorization form or on separate forms.

How to complete an Application for Transfer (Single Title):
NOTE
:  Fill in the application sequence number.

Step 1: Complete one of the following

Existing Title Number – You can find this number through a search of the Land Titles Registry.
Application Sequence Number – Use this to transfer a title that is being created as part of the same packet. Insert the number of the application creating the title.
Example:  Gisele is transferring title number 111222333 to Simon, but Simon wishes to transfer to Cary in the same packet. The first application in the packet is the transfer from Gisele to Simon. The subsequent application is Simon transferring to Cary, but since Simon does not know the new title number yet, he will enter “1” as the application sequence number to identify the title to be transferred.

Step 2: New Owners

Check the box that applies. This will normally be “single owner” or “joint tenants.” Use “joint tenants with no survivorship” if the new owners are trustees and the trust document has specifically directed the trustees to hold the title on this basis.

Step 3: For each new owner, complete one of Section A or Section B

Section A - New Owner(s) with Client Numbers(s)

Client Number(s) – If the new owner has an ISC client number, enter it here. If the new owner is a corporate entity, you must use an ISC client number that is linked to its Corporate Registry (COBRA) entity number. Call 1-866-275-4721 for client numbers.
Client Name – Enter the client name. The name must exactly match that given for the client number in the Land Titles Registry, or the application will be rejected.

Enter this information for any new additional joint owners. Use an Additional Title Owners Form if needed.

What if the information associated with your client number has changed?
If your address has changed, complete a Client Application Form and submit to e-Business separately. Wait until your address change is confirmed before you submit this application.

If your name has changed, complete an Affidavit of Identity and Change of Name Form and submit them to e-Business separately. Submit this application when the change is confirmed.

Section B - New Owner(s) without Client Number(s)

Complete this section if the new owner does not have an ISC client number. If the new owner is a corporate entity, do not complete this section – use Section A.

Enter in full the name of the person who will be the new owner. You must provide full names and refrain from using initials.

Enter in full the address and phone number of the new owner. If the email address and fax number have been provided, enter them as well.

Repeat this process for each joint tenant.

Step 4: New Title Value

Enter the fair market value of the title, rounded down to the nearest dollar.  This value must be consistent with the information in the Titles Affidavit of Value.

Step 5: Registration Type

No Conditions – Check this box if you will accept registration of this transfer subject to any interests registered against the title or existing in the Judgment Registry at the time that this application is processed.
Conditional Registration Date and Time – Complete this box if you will accept registration subject to interests registered on the title or existing in the Judgment Registry at a particular date and time. Enter the date as dd-mm-yyyy and the time as hh:mm:ss. For example, if you searched a title on October 15, 2003, at 2:30 p.m. and chose this date and time, you would enter 15-10-2003 and 14:30:00.
Free and Clear Registration – Check this box if you will accept transfer only if there are no interests on the title at the time this application is processed.

Please note that if the last two types of registration conditions cannot be met, then your Application for Transfer (Single Title) cannot be processed and will be rejected.

Step 6: Subject to Judgment Registry Numbers

This section is optional. If you choose a registration type of either “conditional” or “free and clear,” you may want to search the Judgment Registry to determine if there are any judgments that will auto-attach when this packet is registered.

Example:  This application is being used to transfer a title to Edmund Borowsky. A search of the Judgment Registry shows one item that applies - a maintenance order in the name of “Edmund Borowsky” that will automatically attach when the new title is issued. Mr. Borowsky is willing to accept this interest against his new title, but no others. In this case, indicate “free and clear” as the registration type, and enter the number of the judgment as found in the Judgment Registry into the space provided.

Enter the Judgment Registry Number of the judgment(s) that will auto-attach as a result of this packet, and which the new owner is prepared to accept on title.

Step 7: Application Sequence Number

Enter the number indicating the order of this application in the packet. For example, if it is the second of three applications, enter “2.”

Note: All sheets submitted in an application or packet must be single-sided.
