Filing Renewals for your Business Name
Renewals must be filed with Corporate Registry every three years after the original registration date. They may be filed up to three months before the expiry date.

What is a renewal?
A renewal maintains your business's registration and verifies that the information in the Corporate Registry is correct. The renewal form is generated by the Corporate Registry and sent to the business. It is recommended that you verify the information online. A renewal must be filed even if no information has changed.

Forgot to file a Renewal?
If a renewal is not received by the due date, the registration of the business name will expire as of that date and will be shown as ‘expired' on the Corporate Registry. Once expired, your business name becomes available to anyone else requesting a similar name after 90 days.

Filing your renewal:

  • Login to the Corporate Registry application.
    • Select ‘file’.
  • Enter your entity number in the 'file annual return or renewal' field.
    • Click on your entity name that displays.
    • Select the option ‘renewal of registration’.
  • Complete the application and submit.
    • The summary screen within the application will provide an overview of your renewal.

Change your Business Information

You must notify the Corporate Registry within 15 days of any change to the business address, mailing address or the address of the partners.

Filing a Change of Address/Change of Name:

  • Login to the Corporate Registry application.
    • Select ‘file’.
  • Enter your entity number in the ‘update entity’ field.
    • Click on your entity name that displays.
    • Select the option ‘change of business address’ or ‘change of name’.
  • Complete the application and submit.
    • The summary screen within the application will provide an overview of your address or name change.
A new name reservation may be required if there is a substantial change to the name. The new name will be treated as a new business and a new registration number will be issued.

Filing a Change in Partnership:

If you are adding, deleting or changing a partner,  but still remaining as a partnership.
  • Login to the Corporate Registry application.
    • Select ‘file’.
  • Enter your entity number in the ‘update entity’ field.
    • Click on your entity name that displays.
    • Select the option ‘Change in Membership'.
  • Complete the application and submit.
    • The summary screen within the application will provide an overview of your partnership alteration.

Note: If the name was originally registered as a partnership and the deletion of a partner changes the registration to a sole proprietorship, the current registration must be cancelled and a new application and registration fee is required.
