Filing Renewals for your Business Name
Renewals must be filed with Corporate Registry every three years after the original registration date. They may be filed up to three months before the expiry date.

What is a renewal?
A renewal maintains your business's registration and verifies that the information in Corporate Registry records is correct. The renewal is generated by the Corporate Registry and sent to the business. You must verify the information on the notice and return it.

Forgot to file a Renewal?
If a renewal is not received by Corporate Registry by the due date, the registration of the business name will expire as of that date and will be shown as ‘expired' on the Register of Corporations.

Once expired, your business name becomes available to anyone else requesting a similar name after 90 days. After the 90 days has passed you will have to reserve your business name again and re-register your business.

Filing your renewal:

  • Login to the Corporate Registry application.
    • Select ‘file’.
  • Enter your entity number or name  in the ‘file annual return or renewal' field.
    • click on your entity name that displays.
    • select the option ‘renewal of registration’.
  • Complete the application and submit.
    • The summary screen within the application will provide an overview of your registration.

Change your Business Information

You must also notify the Corporate Registry within 15 days of any change to the business address, mailing address or the address of the proprietor or partners.

Filing your Change of Address/Change of Name:

  • Login to the Corporate Registry application.
    • Select ‘file’.
  • Enter your entity number or name in the ‘update entity’ field.
    • Click on your entity name that displays.
    • Select the option ‘change of business address’ or ‘change of name’.
  • Complete the application and submit.
    • The summary screen within the application will provide an overview of your registration.
A new name reservation may be required if there is a substantial change to the name. The new name will be treated as a new business and a new registration number will be issued.

Filing a Change of Owner:

If the business name was originally registered as a sole proprietorship, the current registration must be cancelled. You must complete a new name reservation, registration, complete with the new owners’ name and registration fee online.
