New West Partnership Name Reservation

PLEASE NOTE: Under the New West Partnership Trade Agreement business corporations, limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships and co-operatives from Alberta and British Columbia wanting to register in Saskatchewan must do so through their home jurisdiction.

Saskatchewan Limited Partnership, Limited Liability Partnerships and all types of Co-operatives registering in British Columbia or Alberta must complete name reservations and registrations via forms.
 
Saskatchewan Business Corporations may conduct name reservations and name reservations for Alberta and British Columbia via the Corporate Registry application.

Saskatchewan Limited Partnership

If you are a Saskatchewan limited partnership registering in Alberta and/or British Columbia:

 
  • For British Columbia, go to the Corporate Registry application and reserve a business name. Alternatively, you may fill out a Name Reservation form. Indicate on the form that you would like the Corporate Registry to do a British Columbia name search on your behalf.
  • You will receive an official Request Number from the British Columbia Corporate Registry and the name will be automatically reserved for 56 days.
  • For British Columbia, Fill out Form 1(N) Registration Statement - Extraprovincial Limited Partnership. Submit the form to the Saskatchewan Corporate Registry by fax or to corporateregistryNWP@isc.ca.
  • The registrar will send confirmation to you and your British Columbia attorney for service or registered office.

Saskatchewan Limited Liability Partnership

If you are a Saskatchewan limited liability partnership registering in Alberta and/or British Columbia:

 
  • For British Columbia, go to the Corporate Registry application and reserve a business name. Alternatively, you may fill out a Name Reservation form. Indicate on the form that you would like the Corporate Registry to do a British Columbia name search on your behalf.
  • You will receive an official Request Number from the British Columbia Corporate Registry and the name will be automatically reserved for 56 days.
  • Next, fill out Form 4(N) Registration Statement - Extraprovincial Limited Liability Partnership. Submit the form to the Saskatchewan Corporate Registry by fax or email.

 

Saskatchewan Business Corporation

If you are a Saskatchewan business corporation and have chosen to extra-provincially register in British Columbia and/or Alberta:
  • Sign on to the Corporate Registry application, under ‘file’ select ‘corporation’, ‘reserve name’ and then select ‘extra-provincial registration’.
  • You will receive an official Request Number from the British Columbia Corporate Registry and the name will be automatically reserved for 56 days.
  • For an Alberta name registration, you will receive an official NUANS Number from the Alberta Corporate Registry and the name will be automatically reserved for 90 days.

Please note: A name reservation is not required in Alberta if you incorporate as a numbered company.

Saskatchewan Co-operative

If you are a Saskatchewan co-operative registering in Alberta and/or British Columbia:

Alberta or British Columbia Businesses

If you are an Alberta  or British Columbia limited partnership, limited liability partnership  or co-operative registering in Saskatchewan:
  • BC Registry Services will facilitate the Saskatchewan name reservation process for you.
  • For an Alberta business, you are required to complete a name reservation in Saskatchewan. This can be completed online through the Corporate Registry application.

Other Extra Provincial Name Reservations

All other jurisdictions wishing to register their business in Saskatchewan may complete a name reservation online via the Corporate Registry application. When conducting the name reservation please be sure to select the 'extra-provincial' option.
