Ministers and Court Orders

This lock will not be placed on a title if the court order is submitted as an interest using the Application for Interest Registration. If your court order provides direction to the Registrar to prohibit dealings with the title, please contact Customer Support. Section 110 of The Land Titles Act, 2000 requires a court order to be registered to be given any effect, unless expressly otherwise provided in the court order.

This lock may be registered at the title or interest level. If it has been registered at the title level, the lock will appear on a title print at the bottom. However, to confirm if this lock has been placed at the interest level, you will need expand the interest details when performing a title search using the search function.

Functionality of the Lock

This lock will prohibit:

  • title transfer
  • interest registration
  • interest postponement
  • interest amendment
  • interest assignment
  • interest registration based on a judgment 

This lock will not prohibit:

  • interest discharge
  • title transmission
  • alternate authority set up
  • transfer to a surviving joint tenant

Removal of the Lock

This lock will be removed when the circumstances requiring the setting of the lock from the original court order have been addressed.  This may require a court order expressly providing for the removal of the lock.
