Fee Mitigation – Adding or Removing a Title Owner

Title owners may want to add another individual, such as a spouse or adult son or daughter, to their title as a joint tenant or to remove a spouse after a divorce. These transactions will qualify for reduced fees if at least one owner remains the same before and after the transaction.

Example: Ted owns title 123456789 and wishes to add Sally as a joint tenant.  He submits a packet to transfer title 123456789 from Ted, to Ted and Sally as joint tenant owners.  Reduced fees apply because Ted was the owner of the original title and remains an owner on the new title.
