Multiple Given Names

Situation

ISC forms provide enough text field boxes for a person to enter a surname along with a maximum of three given names. Although not allowed, a person with more than three given names may attempt to include additional given names by entering two names into one text field box. Applications containing more than three given names and a surname are not acceptable.

Solution

An application should not contain any more than a maximum of three given names plus a surname. If you attempt to exceed the maximum number by inputting more names in a text field box, the extra name(s) will be deleted. Hyphenated surname may be accepted.

NOTE: When ISC has to determine whether there is a match between names, it will assess this on a character-by-character basis of the first two given names and the surname.

NOTE: The ability to match a person's name with names that already exist in one of ISC's registries is vital to some of our features. (e.g., attaching a judgment to a newly purchased piece of land).
