Judgment Registry Search Help

The Judgment Registry Search function allows you to search the Judgment Registry for active federal, provincial judgments and enforcement instructions registered against personal property and lands in Saskatchewan.

The Judgment Registry contains federal and provincial judgments, provincial maintenance judgments and enforcement instructions. It also contains writs and maintenance orders that were registered before the proclamation of The Enforcement of Money Judgments Act.

The search results you receive will only show active judgments and enforcements. Active judgments are those that have not been discharged or that have not expired. As of February 5, 2018 enforcement instructions linked to judgments will be displayed.  Enforcement Instructions is a part of the legal process in place that enables the Sheriffs/Enforcement of Money Judgment Office to pursue funds owed under a judgment.  Details on the enforcement of orders may be found at Sask Law Courts.

Step 1: Judgment Search Criteria

A search in the Judgment Registry will provide information on active judgments and enforcement instructions.

You can search for judgments by:
  • Debtor name (firm or family)
  • Registration number (judgment or enforcement instruction)
  • Land title registration number

When performing a debtor name search, you will receive exact matches to the criteria you have entered. If you want to widen your search, the Judgment Registry search has a "similar in spelling" option for the family or firm name, as well as a "wild card" feature and a "replace character" option. For searching tips, choose Name Search Help from the Judgment Search screen.

Please note:  Another option is to search in the Saskatchewan Personal Property Registry (SPPR). This will allow you to retrieve information about active liens on security interests, judgments, enforcement instructions and sheriff's notices.

Step 2: Judgment Debtor Name List

The Judgment Search Result screen indicates how the search was requested, and with what criteria. The Debtor Name List is an active list of debtor names based on the search, which could include exact matches, similar names, or wild card and replace character options. If a debtor's address was entered at the time of registration, the list will display the address as well, to assist you in deciding whether you want to proceed with obtaining the details of a given registration.

Step 3: Judgment List

The Judgment Search List screen indicates how the search was requested, and with what criteria. The judgment list shows the active judgments against the specific debtor you selected from the Judgment Debtor Name List.  If an enforcement instruction has been linked to a judgment the enforcement instruction registration # will be displayed.

If you decide to view the details of the judgment, click . There is a financial charge associated with viewing the results. To see how much it will cost to view the judgment, click .
