Register a New West Partnership or Extra-Provincial Business

Extra Provincial Businesses

Businesses from other jurisdictions may register any entity type via the Corporate Registry. When completing the registration online, extra-provincial businesses must select the ‘extra-provincial registration’ option. Extra-provincial businesses must have a power of attorney in Saskatchewan. If you are an extra-provincial numbered corporation, not included in the New West Partnership, you are not required to conduct a name reservation as part of your extra-provincial registration.

The New West Partnership Trade Agreement (NWPTA) and the Multi-jurisdictional Registry Access Service (MRAS) impact processes for businesses from Alberta, British Columbia Manitoba, Quebec, and federal jurisdictions. Please review the below material to determine the correct process for your entity.

MRAS

The Multi-jurisdictional Access Service (MRAS) is a digital solution that allows participating corporate registries in Canada to connect, reduces barriers to trade, and makes registration for Business Corporations and Limited Partnerships operating in multiple jurisdictions more efficient. Participants in MRAS include British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec and Federal.

Under MRAS, business corporations and limited partnerships from participating jurisdictions are required to submit filings for their extra-provincial business registered in Saskatchewan online via the Corporate Registry Application.

New West Partnership

The New West Partnership Trade Agreement reduces barriers to trade, investment, and labour movement in the provinces of Saskatchewan, Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba.  The agreement impacts processes and fees for registering extra-provincial businesses in the western provinces.
