The following Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) are for Financial Institutions storing documents in the Document Storage Library (DSL).

What is the Document Storage Library?
ISC's Document Storage Library centrally stores Financial Institutions' standard mortgage and lease documents. This allows Land Registry customers to be able to simply reference a document's unique DSL number in their interest registration and interest amendment applications, instead of being required to attach the full standard document each time.

Who can store documents in the Document Storage Library?
Financial institutions such as banks and credit unions can store documents in the Document Storage Library.

What types of documents can be stored in the Document Storage Library?
Standard terms and conditions for mortgages and leases can be stored in the Document Storage Library.

How can I access the Document Storage Library?
Please see the Launching the Document Storage Library page for more information on how to log in to the ISC website and access the Document Storage Library. 

How can I submit a document to be stored in the Document Storage Library?
Please see the Submitting a Document page for more information on how to submit your document(s) to be stored in the Document Storage Library.

What is the required file format for the documents I submit to be stored in the Document Storage Library?
The required file format for your documents is PDF.

What is the size limit for my document's file?
The maximum file size for each PDF document you submit is 8 MB.

Is there a fee to submit documents to the Document Storage Library?
No, there are no fees for submitting documents to the Document Storage Library.

After I submit a document to be stored in the Document Storage Library, how long will it take for my document to be accepted or rejected by ISC? 
After you submit a document to be stored in the Document Storage Library, it will take up to two (2) business days for your document to be reviewed by ISC and accepted or rejected. The results of ISC's review will be posted in your Notifications Tab in the Document Storage Library. Please see the Viewing Notifications page for more information on the types of notifications that can be posted.

Can I inactivate a document? 
Yes, Financial Institutions will have the authority to inactivate only the document they have stored in the Document Storage Library. Please see Step 5 of the the Searching by DSL Number page or Step 5 of the Searching by Other Criteria page for more information on how to inactivate a document. 

If I accidently inactivate the wrong document, can it ISC reinstate it? 
No, an inactivated document cannot be reinstated. You will be required to submit a new document to be stored in the Document Storage Library. This new document will be assigned a new DSL number.

Can I amend a document I have stored in the Document Storage Library without it losing its existing DSL number?
No, if your document requires amendments, you must inactivate the original document and re-submit the amended version. This new version will be assigned a new DSL number. Please see Step 5 of the the Searching by DSL Number page or Step 5 of the Searching by Other Criteria page for more information on how to inactivate a document, and the Submitting a Document page for more information on how to submit documents.

Do DSL numbers have a specific format? 
Yes, DSL numbers are twelve characters in total, consisting of two digits for the year, followed by the letters “DSL”, followed by seven digits. For example: 13DSL1234567.

Are DSL numbers case sensitive? 
No, they are not case sensitive.

Are any two DSL numbers alike?
No, ISC assigns each document in the Document Storage Library its own unique DSL number.
