Search a Leasehold Title

Leasehold titles no longer exist in the current online Land Registry system.  Instead, they are represented as interests under the title to which they attach.

If you wish to access online Land Registry system information related to a leasehold title in the Old Paper-based System, you will have to use search criteria other than the leasehold title number (e.g. the name, the land description) in the appropriate Search menu.  The leasehold title will display as a sub-interest under the title to which it attaches.  For any subsequent searches in relation to the leasehold title, it is recommended that you use the nine-digit interest number as your search criteria.

You can view an image of an Old Paper-based System leasehold title as it appeared at the time of conversion and request that a copy of the leasehold title be sent to you.  ISC will not scan Old Paper-based System leasehold titles automatically during the conversion process, however.  You will need to request that a leasehold title be scanned in order to view it online or to request that a copy be sent to you.  Leasehold titles only need to be scanned once.  When an Old Paper-based System leasehold title has been scanned, it will be available for viewing online by all users.

NOTE: Do not refresh your screen at anytime during a search session. Selecting REFRESH  may reapply whatever search query was last run to retrieve the currently displayed search results.  This re-application of the search query will result in an additional charge for that query, even though the results are the same as previously displayed.  If you want to look at a file again, save the file to your hard drive, or print the screen.

How To Perform a Basic Search for Leasehold Titles

There are different procedures for searching Old Paper-based System leasehold titles depending on whether the leasehold title was active or inactive at the time of conversion to the current online Land Registry system.
  • If the leasehold title was inactive at the time of conversion, you can search using the Old Paper-based System leasehold title number in the Search by Pre-Conversion Title Number menu.
  • If the leasehold title was active at the time of conversion, you can complete a Search by Land Description using the land description associated with the Old Paper-based System leasehold title.
    • When completing this search, you will first have to access the freehold title to which the leasehold title was attached.  The freehold title and the leasehold title will be scanned together.  Thus, when you view an image of the freehold title, the leasehold title image will also display.  If you are uncertain of the status of the leasehold title at conversion, you may have to complete several searches to access the information that you require.
