        ISC Century Family Farm Awards Application Process

         To be eligible for an ISC Century Family Farm Award, you must meet the following criteria:
        • Members of the same family have farmed or ranched the land continuously for 100 years or more;
        • The family must live in Saskatchewan and continue to operate the farm/ranch (or can provide us with a Saskatchewan address);
        • The applicant has never received an ISC Century Family Farm Award; and
        • The quarter section has never been recognized for an ISC Century Family Farm Award.

        To apply for an ISC Century Family Farm Award, you can:

        • Complete the online application form
        • Mail a printedapplication formto ISC (Att: CFFA, ISC, 1301 1st Avenue, Regina SK, S4R 8H2); or
        • Visit any of the ISC Customer Services Centres to fill in a paper application.

        The CFFA application process will be open from October to March annually.

        Should you qualify for an CFFA award in the current year, you will receive award details and an award order form.

        As an award recipient, you have a choice of either:

        • Onecedar gate signat a cost of $664 (plus 6% PST and 5% GST = $737.04)

        In addition to the award, you will receive a copy of theoriginal land grant or titleto your family’s property and 12certificatesof the ISC Century Family Farm Award, at no cost.

        Additional plaques and/or gate signs can be purchased.

        Can I apply for a family member?

        Yes. However, please ensure that the name and address of the person you are applying for is used on the application form. Please note that the applicant must be the current owner of the land.

        What information should I include with my application form?

        You do not need to include any historical documentation with your application form. ISC and the Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan will complete the necessary research on each applicant’s behalf at no cost. Together, we use the land description provided in the application to look up your ancestor’s date of homestead entry and the date they officially got title to the land. We use the earliest date to determine when the family farm is eligible to receive the award.

        What if the family lives on the land, but contracts someone else/rents it to someone else to operate the farm or does not live on the land? Does the applicant still qualify?

        Yes, as long as the family has some connection to farming the land for 100 years and still owns the land, they qualify to receive an ISC Century Family Farm Award.

        What if the farm is a partnership between family members (or one family member and non-family members)?

        As long as one member of the family is involved in operating the farm and lives in Saskatchewan, the applicant qualifies for an ISC Century Family Farm Award.

        If I own more than one quarter section of land that is 100 years old, can I apply for all of them?

        Since you are only eligible for one award per landowner, you must choose the quarter section you’d like to recognize. Most people choose their homestead quarter, where their ancestor’s original house was built, or the quarter they live on. The only exception is if different ancestors homesteaded/owned different quarters on your land.

        I own and operate quarter sections of land that were homesteaded or titled by different ancestors, can I apply for all of them?

        Yes. Many times farms were amalgamated through marriage over the years. As long as the ancestor names are indicated on homestead, grant or title information, you are eligible for separate ISC Century Family Farm Awards.

        Can applicants choose more than one award?

        Yes. ISC awards one of the following options: an indoor wall plaque (free) or a gate sign at a subsidized price ($664 plus 6% PST and 5% GST = $737.04). If the applicant wishes to receive another award, they may purchase it. The cost of additional indoor wall plaques is $134 each (plus 6% PST and 5% GST = $148.74). Additional gate signs are $764 each (plus 6% PST and 5% GST = $848.04).

        When do recipients pay for the gate sign or request additional awards?

        ISC will contact all recipients by mail to let them know if they have qualified for the award. If they have qualified, an order form will accompany the congratulatory letter. Recipients will be responsible for filling out the order form indicating their choice of award – either the indoor wall plaque (free) or the gate sign at a discounted price ($664.00 plus taxes). They can also purchase additional awards at that time. Payment must accompany the order form in order for the awards to be processed.
