Quadrilateral System of Survey - A grid system. The Dominion Land Survey which was the system of survey in Saskatchewan and is based on reference lines running north and south, which are referred to as principal meridians. From the principal meridian Westward a series of North and South lines were surveyed at intervals of approximately 6 miles and are referred to as range lines. Also, East and West lines were surveyed from the 49th degree parallel of latitude Northward at intervals of approximately 6 miles and these are referred to as township lines.
